You were definitely Xfinity fast at Coronado.
A late-race crash between Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar and 23XI Racing driver Corey Heim on Sunday afternoon at Naval Base Coronado has turned into an online beef between the two drivers.
The back and forth began with a little nudge on Monday morning when a fan claimed that Heim had to wreck Hocevar to score his first win.
In response, Heim used Hocevar’s own words to justify the incident, with the Spire Motorsports driver responding with a post that got fans talking.
Carson Hocevar Shoots Back at Corey Heim’s Online Jab
What’s Happening? Following their on-track run-in at Naval Base Coronado this weekend, NASCAR drivers Carson Hocevar and Corey Heim shared subtle…
Many fans thought that the beef (even if it’s all for show, or real and true) could take its next step Tuesday. Hocevar was slated to be the substitute host of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Dale Jr. Download, where it’s a weekly tradition for the Cup Series winner to join the show for a short interview.
Unfortunately, Heim was not available for a phone call during the podcast taping, as Dirty Mo Media shared in a social media post.
Hocevar posted a response to this clip reading “if only they had cell service out west,” to which Heim responded “Sorry dude, my Spectrum went out again.. time to switch, I guess.”

This is a reference to Hocevar’s sponsor, internet provider Spectrum, an industry rival of 23XI’s sponsor, Xfinity.
Hocevar continued his side by saying, “if you need help paying your spectrum bill so it works next time, i can buy a win shirt,” Heim again responded with another sponsorship-related jab, adding, “please do, I’ll use the extra cash to upgrade to @Xfinity.”
Even the official Xfinity Racing social media account joined in on the fun, saying in a post of their own, “Won’t need extra with our 5-year price guarantee. You were definitely Xfinity fast at Coronado.”
Is the Beef Real?
While this may seem like the beef is all fun and games, fans continue to ask whether there is any real tension between the two drivers.
This, in particular, would date back to the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship race, in which Hocevar, then racing for Niece Motorsports, ended Heim’s championship pursuit.
During his episode of The Dale Jr Download, Hocevar directly addressed lingering tension from that night in late 2023, saying he felt the wreck at Coronado was, “four years coming.”
“I felt like that was four years coming-ish, and I was like, ‘All right, fair.'” — Carson Hocevar
Though he kept any deep feelings towards Heim close to the chest, the Spire Motorsports driver was complimentary towards the future Cup Series rookie.
“Obviously, he is very good, and I’m looking forward to racing his ass off for 20 years,” Hocevar said.
Still, looking back on the weekend in San Diego, Hocevar said he was better off wrecking at a street circuit as opposed to “other places,” saying that he was relieved that he was competitive.
