What’s Happening?
Long after the checkered flag flew on Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway, Legacy Motor Club driver John Hunter Nemechek still had words for Carson Hocevar.
After yesterday’s crash-filled FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, fans were treated to a somewhat heated back-and-forth between drivers Carson Hocevar and Bubba Wallace.
While their beef took center stage in online NASCAR circles, one driver still had a few straws to throw Hocevar’s way in the hours after the race ended.
Shortly after all the excitement subsided, Legacy Motor Club driver John Hunter Nemechek posted on Instagram reflecting on his day, “Really fast car. 2 weeks in a row getting Hocevared.”
Of course, this was in reference to the lap 83 restart in which Nemechek, restarting in front of Hocevar, got a hefty push from behind and spun as part of a multi-car crash.

While the No. 42 did go for a spin, he did not receive the worst of this wreck, as it ended the day of points leader Tyler Reddick, and almost ended the day for eventual race winner Denny Hamlin.
Still, Nemechek brought home his LMC Toyota in 14th, his second-best finish of what has been a challenging season so far.
Even then, after sharing his post to social media, Hocevar’s fans, as expected, stood up for their driver, with one responding to Nemechek, “Yall hate hocevar cuz u ain’t him.”
Nemechek did not let this comment pass him by, firing back two responses about Hocevar that raised eyebrows amongst fans. Nemechek said:
“I don’t want to be him. if you only knew… this made me laugh. 😂 i’d be careful commenting that, never want to be anything like him.” — John Hunter Nemechek on Instagram

While the second-generation driver did not further add to these comments, this response led to an influx of responses from Hocevar’s fans that have bled into today.
One user commented in response, “Only a poor workman blames others for being bad at his job. I just joined the John Hunter Nemechek Hater Club.”
Others deflected the blame from both Hocevar and JHN, suggesting that Kyle Larson is the real problem in the scenario.
“The 5 car caused an accordion effect which led to a racing accident. But yeah choose the easy option and blame Carson because that’s all you drivers know how to do,” one user wrote.
Furthermore, Hocevar has even liked the post from Nemechek, something that has also stirred the pot amongst online fans.
