NASCAR legend Martin Truex Jr has addressed online listings of his personal memorabilia that went viral Wednesday night in a post on Instagram, with the former NASCAR Cup Series Champion claiming the item’s were put up for sale without his knowledge.

The items, listed for sale in the Race Day Authentics Facebook group, went viral on NASCAR social media Wednesday, with fans suggesting that Truex parting ways with those items was a sign the 45-year-old was “done” with the sport.
Though in a post on Instagram Thursday night, Truex stated, “It’s been brought to my attention some of my trophies were for sale online. These items were sold without my knowledge.”
The items for sale included 1 of 1 NASCAR 75 Greatest Drivers items, two Regular-Season Championship Trophies, a special diecast gifted to him by Toyota, and the trophy from his final win at New Hampshire.
Fans were shocked that these items were up for sale, as they all had some form of historic significance for Truex and NASCAR as a whole. Though in his post on Instagram, Truex pushs back at the idea that he was moving on from the sport, saying “all of these items holds a special significance to me.”

In a post to Facebook, Bradley StClair of Race Day Authentics claimed that they we misled by someone who used to work with Truex and had the items in their possession, saying, “We were lied to by the person we bought them from and we appreciate everybody being understanding with this matter.”

They claim to have been in contact with Truex, and have since made a plan to get these items back to him.
