What’s Happening?

Nick Sanchez has been announced as Spire Motorsports’ No. 07 truck driver for the upcoming NASCAR Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on May 2nd. The 23-year-old currently sits 17th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings in his first full-time season, and he has an 11th-place finish in his only start at the racetrack on the series, back in 2022.

  • Sanchez will be the 7th driver to race the 07 truck this season as Spire continues a driver rotation; Only Michael McDowell has made multiple starts in the No. 07 so far (Daytona and Atlanta).
  • The No. 07 Spire Motorsports charter is 6th in owner points, with one win courtesy of Kyle Larson at Homestead-Miami.
  • Allen Hart will be the crew chief of the team, as in every other race in 2025.
  • In the Truck Series, Sanchez has started twice at Texas, in 2023 and 2024. He won the pole both times.

During his 2 full-time Truck Series seasons, Sanchez won two races, at Daytona and Charlotte, both in 2024. Despite no wins at Texas, it has proven to be one of his strongest tracks, as in 2023 he led 168 of 172 laps, swept both stages, but crashed from the lead on the final lap, and in 2024, he won the pole again, led 16 laps, and finished 3rd behind Kyle Busch and Corey Heim. This race could be his best shot at not only earning his first victory at Texas but also his first this season. After two near-misses in back-to-back years, he will have two shots on May 2nd and May 3rd. Redemption is undoubtedly in his mind; he should be a fierce contender for the win in both series.
