What’s Happening?

In an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Xfinity Series team owner Jordan Anderson claimed that the team had signed new drivers. But the driver/owner has yet to say who.

  • The most important question stemming from this is whether or not Jeb Burton will return to JAR as one of those drivers. Perhaps the second-generation driver is, and Anderson does not care to comment. However, Burton’s social media bios do not mention JAR, and while he is listed as a driver on the team’s website, the previously departed Parker Retzlaff is as well.
  • Retzlaff announced his departure from the team shortly after the season finale at Phoenix. While 2024 was a difficult season for Parker, the wording of his post made it sound like a mutual decision. Perhaps JAR is gearing up for something greater in the near future after making major strides in 2023 and 2024.
  • JAR fields two full-time cars and one part-time car, No. 32. While Anderson announced in this same interview he will race the No. 32 at Daytona next season, the No. 32’s past may provide clues as to who could drive No. 27 or No. 31 next season.

Who Could Their Drivers Be?

  • Last season, of all the part-timers who drove the No. 32, one that stood out the most was second-generation driver Austin Green. Austin, the son of driver and former Xfinity Series champion David Green, performed well in his seven starts with JAR. However, there are no clear pointers as to Green’s 2025 plans. While he could stick to the TransAm Series, it is clear Green has a close relationship with JAR and its owner.
  • As far as other options go, some fans have connected the dots between two rumors to suggest a top Xfinity driver could race for JAR next season. A November rumor stated that Chandler Smith could race for JAR associate team Richard Childress Racing part-time in the 2024 Cup Series season. Some fans suggested that he could race for JAR full-time in Xfinity while doing so. However, this was not part of the initial rumor, and there are no hints or indications any of this is true, making this a very speculative rumor.
