What’s Happening?

NASCAR up-and-comer Parker Retzlaff is out of a ride at Jordan Anderson Racing. This departure follows moderate speculation after a suspicious post from JAR prior to Saturday’s Xfinity Series finale.

  • Following his second Xfinity Series season at Jordan Anderson Racing, 21-year-old Parker Retzlaff is a free agent. The young driver scored just two top-fives and four top-tens this season in the team’s flagship No. 31.
  • This free agency is a shock as Retzlaff has not expressed any hint about his plans for 2025, with some assuming the No. 31 would again be his. On Nov. 9, there was a hint that the pair could split when JAR posted a thank you to Retzlaff on X. However, it was not clear what it meant.
  • Parker Retzlaff made his Xfinity Series debut in 2022 with part-time starts for OUR Motorsports and RSS Racing. Last season, he signed with JAR and hoped to improve in 2024. However, the pair’s only success this season was two poles, one at Martinsville and one at Richmond.
  • This breakup brings into question Parker’s relationship with Chevrolet, who was allegedly upset with the driver following his second career Cup Series start at Daytona. In this race, while Parker ran well, finishing seventh, he was accused of not helping Chevrolet teammate Kyle Busch to the win.
  • If this is the case, there is no telling where Retzlaff will land. Retzlaff has loyal support from sponsor FUNKAWAY, who has sponsored him at almost every level he has raced at. However, if that longtime sponsorship is over, it could complicate the young driver’s prospects in an already limited market.

Update: Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports believes this has nothing to do with Daytona, as Retzlaff was shopping around his options prior to that occurrence.
