What’s Happening?

As NASCAR 25’s development rolls forward, the pieces of the user experience are slowly coming together. Now, Dale Earnhardt Jr., a key part of NASCAR 25, is asking fans to help the team develop the soundtrack.

A Key Aspect of The Game

For some time now, fans have felt that their input would be valuable in creating the next NASCAR console game. If you go online, you will find thousands of threads, blogs, and videos about what developers could do better.

Fortunately, on Monday night, Dale Earnhardt Jr, an executive Director at iRacing, asked fans directly online for their input on “what songs absolutely have to be considered.” This is the type of outreach fans have wished for since the last EA Sports title in 2008. As a music nerd himself, Earnhardt will surely have some input as well.

When fans reflect on NASCAR gaming’s “glory years,” they often cite the iconic soundtracks as a key part of the experience. The ability to add a similar flavor, and perhaps some of those classic songs, will give fans what they have hoped for in a new NASCAR console game for almost 15 years.

What Do the Fans Want?

When JR asked about this, the discussion quickly exploded with suggestions, both old and new. In fact, at one point, Executive Vice President at iRacing, Steve Myers, pointed out that Molly Hatchet, the band, was trending under the sports tab on X.

Hatchet performed the iconic opening song to NASCAR 98, Flirtin’ with Disaster. Many fans cite this game, the first of the EA Sports line, as their introduction to NASCAR and NASCAR Gaming. Of course, fans filled Earnhardt’s replies with this song.

Some fans suggest Real Gone by Sheryl Crow, from the movie CARS. Another favorite was Magic Carpet Ride, by Steppenwolf, from NASCAR Thunder 2003, notably suggested by driver Garrett Smithley.

Garrett Smithley was not the only driver to join in on the fun; Brad Keselowski, a longtime friend of JR, suggested simply just anything by Sick Puppies.

This post, as simple as it was, rallies fans around this well-hyped game and shows respect for the fans. As development continues, executives like Earnhardt and Myers continue to ask for fans’ opinions and, in doing so, are earning the respect of those who will buy the game.
