Legacy Motor Club Overhauls Driver Teams Ahead of 2025

What’s Happening?

Legacy Motor Club has had a difficult season on track. Now, the team is making major changes to its Cup Series teams. Crew Chief Ben Beshore is moving to the No. 43 from the No. 42, while Technical Director Brian Campe takes over calling the shots for the No. 42.

• This year was supposed to be one of growth for Legacy MC. The team signed top developmental driver John Hunter Nemechek to drive the No. 42 and switched manufacturers to Toyota. However, the team, co-owned by Jimmie Johnson, has seen a steady decline in competition throughout the season.
• John Hunter Nemechek started the year well but has fallen to the back half of the field and has only one top-20 in his last ten races. Erik Jones, however, has had an even tougher season. A wreck at the spring Talladega race resulted in Jones sitting out for two races. Since then, Jones is heading for his worst statistical season to date.
• In the team’s first move, Nemechek’s Crew Chief Ben Beshore will call the shots for Erik Jones beginning this weekend. Beshore notably was Kyle Busch’s Crew Chief in his final two seasons at Joe Gibbs Racing. He is replacing David Elenz, who was Jones’ Crew Chief since 2022.
• Brian Campe, LMC’s Technical Director, will be the interim Crew Chief of the No. 42. Campe most recently called the shots for William Byron in four races in 2023. LMC recently hired Campe from Hendrick Motorsports, where Campe was Director of Performance Development and Crew Chief for Kyle Larson at the 2024 Indianapolis 500.
