It has become a very interesting weekend to lay the hammer on some NASCAR bets at Circuit of the Americas. I can’t emphasize how important it is to be in the Garage Guys Discord and be following me @daletanhardt on all social platforms.
On a normal weekend, we’d have everything at our disposal on a Saturday morning. But with the wildcard Friday practices, we are left with little value in most areas. Most of my bets that I locked in have drastically shifted; some for the better, and some for the worse.
Luckily, I have a few more leans I will add for each NASCAR National Series Race this weekend, and if you’re reading this, its’ not too late. You’ll be the first to hear about them all.
Let’s get right into it.
NASCAR at COTA Best Bets
Craftsman Truck Series: XPEL 225
Christian Eckes: Top 5 +400, Top 3 +700 (Caesar’s Sportsbook)
I love this play. I already locked in the Top 3 but got the line at +575. I’m super surprised it moved in the opposite direction after qualifying.
Eckes leads the point standings after a dramatic win at Atlanta last week. After knocking on the door for so long, Eckes got the monkey off his back and parked it in victory lane for his second career win.
I love the momentum factor, but Eckes had a P6 in this race last year, a P5 at Mid-Ohio and has finished 13th or better in every road-course race since 2020 with the exception of Sonoma last year where he crashed. So there’s more than just momentum to the equation.
Eckes is proving he’s gonna be a championship contender in 2023, and I like the idea of him continuing a hot start into Austin, Texas.
Parker Kligerman: Top 5 +450, Top 3 +900, To Win +3500 (Caesar’s Sportsbook)
People are concerned about a lackluster qualifying effort on Friday, but I see it as a better opportunity for us to get some better value.
The emphasis is on the Top 5 here; I believe if you laid a unit on both Kligerman and Eckes, I’m super confident one of these guys will score a Top 5 today.
Parker is always a threat to win in this style of racing, and his win at Mid-Ohio last year was a clear indication of his potential after many stellar runs on left-and-right courses.
NASCAR Xfinity Series: Pit Boss 250
Justin Allgaier Over John Hunter Nemechek -115, Top 3 +600 (Barstool Sportsbook)
Allgaier is a sneaky good road-course racer. JA finished P3 in 2021 at Austin and crashed out last year after running in the Top 10 most of the day.
I think without stage breaks,, the level of calamity will shrink mightily. Allgaier had great speed in practice on Friday as well. Neither of these plays are big time hammer plays, but they stick out to me when it comes to what’s left that boasts any extra value.
