What’s Happening?
The Daily Downforce has learned where Stewart-Haas Racing’s charters are rumored to be sold. Sources indicate two charters could be heading to Front Row Motorsports, with the other two potentially heading to Trackhouse. Sources also indicate that SHR will likely keep its Xfinity Series program for the time being.
- This move would give Front Row Motorsports 4 cars, and they would replace SHR as Ford’s 4-car Tier One team. FRM’s driver lineup for 2024 is still to be determined. Team stalwart Michael McDowell announced last weekend he was leaving the team for Spire Motorsports to drive the No. 71 car in 2025.
- With this move, Trackhouse would also expand to four teams. Theoretically, that means they could bring Shane Van Gisbergen and Zane Smith into the fold full-time in the Cup Series, but there is no word yet on what the official lineup could be.
- Stewart-Haas Racing could then withdraw from the Cup Series and focus on Xfinity. For 2024, SHR will field two Xfinity Series cars, the No. 00 for defending champion Cole Custer and the No. 98 for Riley Herbst. The 2025 driver lineup is not known yet.
