NASCAR has always been a very emotional sport for all members involved. Sometimes, those tempers will spill over on pit road or even on the track in big moments. Let’s take a look at some of NASCAR’s biggest and most memorable fights.
Texas 2014: Gordon vs Keselowski
When thinking of NASCAR fights, Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon at Texas in 2014 come to mind. This was the first season with a new NASCAR playoff format that created more pressure than ever for the drivers. On a late race restart, Keselowski and Gordon made contact resulting in Gordon having a flat tire before the checkered. Gordon then pulled into Keselowski’s pit box following the race, resulting in a brawl on pit road!
Las Vegas 2017: Busch vs Logano
It has been made clear that Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are not the best of friends. On the final lap at Las Vegas in 2017 the two drivers made contact resulting in Kyle Busch spinning and finishing 22nd after running in the top 10 all day. Kyle Busch went over to Logano pit stall following the race and things escalated quickly.
Martinsville 2022: Gibbs vs Mayer
Sam Mayer and Ty Gibbs have never seen eye to eye on the race track. That has continued all the way up into the Xfinity series multiple times. One of the most memorable was at Martinsville in April of 2022. Mayer and Gibbs made hard contact resulting in Gibbs failing to win the race after leading a majority of the night. Following the race Ty Gibbs went up to Sam Mayer to confront the situation. Some words and punches were exchanged that night on pit road!
Charlotte 2014: Keselowski vs Kenseth
Going back to the 2014 NASCAR playoffs, Brad Keselowski was not the favorite driver in the garage area. After multiple incidents with drivers following the Playoff race at Charlotte. Brad has many drivers going after him once helmets are off. Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart showed their displeasure towards Brad after the event. Although, no one saw Matt Kenseth going up and tackling Brad Keselowski on the way to his hauler.
Daytona 1979: Yarborough vs Allison
Going back in time to the first ever flag-to-flag televised Daytona 500, we saw one of the most memorable fights in NASCAR history and arguably the most important. Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison were going for the win in NASCAR’s biggest race when they both crashed each other out on the final lap. After Richard Petty claimed the victory they both climbed out of the car and started to throw their hamlets at each other making this fight one to remember.
