NASCAR is a strange and wild sport every year. There are so many storylines that play out that it’s hard to remember them all. The ones that do get remembered are the stories that involve triumph and victory, but the ones that are forgotten are weird, bold, and strange. Today, The Iceberg is here to tell us about weird and forgotten stories in NASCAR.

  • In 2025 NASCAR will be having a midseason tournament, but not many people know that this is not their first midseason tournament. Once upon a time, NASCAR had a tournament to figure out who the sexiest driver in the sport is. If we had this tournament today, what driver would win?
  • Back in 2012, the history books and the entire future of the sport were about to change when Danica Patrick dominated a race in Montreal. She was on her way to becoming the first female winner in NASCAR until a shoe that was thrown on the track ruined her day. If Danica Patrick had won this race, would NASCAR fans look on her more positively today?
  • NASCAR today would be nothing without the pioneers of the past, all of the legends who went out on a track before driver safety was even a thought. Today, there are multiple ways to get drivers out of their cars as quickly as possible in case of a fire or even smoke, but in 1948, NASCAR’s first-ever champion had to literally be bolted to the clutch pedal of his car. Is this the bravest story in NASCAR history?

What do you think is the weirdest story in NASCAR? Do you have any weird racing stories? Let The Iceberg know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
