What’s Happening?
As we fear any time we go to Daytona, weather has become a massive story. This time, it’s the NASCAR Xfinity Series that had been affected. When the broadcast on the CW came on, it was clear that it had been raining as the track drying process was well underway. It didn’t take long to get the track dry and qualifying commenced. Unfortunately, only a handful of cars were able to turn laps before it started to rain again. Subsequently, qualifying was cancelled and the field was set per the NASCAR Rule Book. Defending champion, Justin Allgaier was awarded the pole position for today’s race.
- It has been a good few months for Justin Allgaier. After passing his owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. in all-time Xfinity Series wins, Allgaier went on to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. He followed that up by making the Daytona 500 on Thursday night, marking JR Motorsports’ debut in the NASCAR Cup Series. And now, he will lead the field in the season-opening race at Daytona. Look for him to be a threat to win this afternoon.
- Rain has threatened the entire race weekend. The Daytona 500 tomorrow was moved up a while hour due to the threat of rain. Hopefully, they can get all of these races in.
- Regardless of the weather, the NASCAR faithful fans will be in attendance to the Daytona 500 this weekend, rain or shine.
