What’s Happening?
Xfinity, the title sponsor of NASCAR’s secondary series, the Xfinity Series, will end its title sponsorship at the conclusion of the 2025 season. This is the end of an 11-season deal but not the end of Xfinity’s involvement in NASCAR.
- According to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, Xfinity, owned by Comcast, will shift its focus to the Cup Series and its premier partnership with NASCAR. Xfinity will also sponsor the new “Xfinity Fastest Lap,” which awards one point to the driver with the fastest lap in each race.
- Premier partnerships are the Cup Series version of title sponsorships, allowing multiple brands to be premier partners. Xfinity’s new deal will be for multiple years; they, alongside Busch Beer and Coca-Cola, are the only remaining original premier partners following Geico’s departure this season.
- Xfinity became the title sponsor of the Xfinity Series in 2015 following the departure of Nationwide Insurance. They are the third company to sponsor the series, following Nationwides 2008 to 2014 sponsorship, Busch’s long-term 1984 to 2007 sponsorship, and Budweiser’s initial title sponsorship in 1982.
- NASCAR is on the hunt to replace one of its longest-running partnerships this season. They most recently did this during the 2022 season, replacing Camping World as the Truck Series title sponsor with Craftsman.
