What’s Happening?
A topic of conversation sweeping the online NASCAR community is whether or not first-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Ty Gibbs will receive a Lionel race win diecast for his win at Bristol Sunday afternoon.

NASCAR diecast collectors will collect about anything, be that race wins, diecasts from their favorite drivers, or winning cars from races they have been to in person.
A diecast that would likely check several boxes for collectors would be from Ty Gibbs’ first career NASCAR Cup Series win this past Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like this diecast is coming anytime soon.
For the better part of the last decade, Gibbs’ sponsor, Monster Energy, despite its status as one of the most prominent sponsors in NASCAR, has not had an official diecast produced by Lionel.
In fact, the last official Monster Energy diecast produced by Lionel was a 1:24 of Kurt Busch’s Kentucky Speedway race win in 2019, a car that now sells for upwards of $200 online.

Whether this is the brand’s or Lionel’s decision is unclear; however, this has left a hole in the production of NASCAR diecast, with many paint schemes featuring Monster as a primary or secondary sponsor modified or never produced.
After Gibbs win Sunday, the Lionel Racing X account somewhat acknowledged this, saying, “Huge congratulations to Ty on his first Cup Series win! We cannot wait to see that 54 in Victory Lane many more times.”
Could a Diecast Still Happen?
Despite the bleak outlook for fans getting a first-win diecast of Gibbs, other options could take shape.
For one, there will likely be many custom diecast models made commemorating the win that will catch a steep price online. But there is another option that some fans online are begging for.
Earlier this year, Lionel, after a grassroots campaign from fans, released a pre-order for a diecast of Ryan Preece’s Clash-winning No. 60. This is despite Coca-Cola’s sponsorship of the car, with Lionel opting for a stripped-down version of the paint scheme.

While this method would render Gibbs’ car mostly bare, it wouldn’t be the first time Lionel did this, especially with Gibbs, having done so for the driver’s 2021 win at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Ty Gibbs picked up his second NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the season in just his sixth career start Saturday afternoon at Charlotte.

Nonetheless, as of press time, Lionel has yet to show any sign of heading this direction for a Gibbs race win diecast.
