Why Is Carson Hocevar Trying to Buy Ice Cream and USPS Mail Trucks?

What’s Happening?

Carson Hocevear is on the hunt for two rather unusual additions to his collection: ice cream trucks and USPS mail trucks, and he wants to race them.

Speaking ahead of the Brickyard 400, during his scrum interview, which Braking Bob posted, Hocevar explained that he and his friends regularly come up with unusual ideas and have several trips and adventures planned. One of those ideas involves finding three ice cream trucks that they can turn into something resembling a race.

“Yeah, we want to race them,” Hocevar said when asked about his search for ice cream trucks. He explained that the plan is to find three of them and “kind of race them, per se.”

The ice cream trucks, however, are a completely separate project from another idea: getting his hands on USPS mail trucks, which Hocevar has been pursuing. The problem is that finding one is proving much more difficult than he expected.

“You can buy a fire truck, you can buy everything in the world, but a mail truck’s apparently the limit,” Hocevar said, admitting that he had received roughly 500 emails from people offering information about potential trucks.

However, this is not the first time Hocevar has discussed the mail-truck idea. During a June 13 interview with PRN, when asked what he would actually do with the vehicles, Hocevar suggested that putting them on a dirt track could make for a spectacle.

When pointed out that mail trucks are right-hand drive and asked whether he would drive them backward, Hocevar did not exactly arrive with an engineering plan.

“No. No, we’d probably… I don’t know. Maybe we would,” he joked.

Despite that, Hocevar began imagining modifications almost immediately, including bending the doors to make them resemble wings and transforming parts of the trucks into makeshift aerodynamic devices.

“I just want to be able to do it,” Hocevar explained.

His fascination with the mail trucks even spilled over into a Twitch clip he shared on June 16 on his official Instagram handle. After asking people to send him mail trucks that were available and not government-owned, Hocevar found himself jokingly fielding questions about whether he had some kind of problem with the government.

But he stated that the government was not the issue. The issue was that it simply does not sell him the mail trucks he wants, joking about there being a “little bit of monopoly” and “gatekeeping” surrounding the vehicles, insisting that all he wants is a mail truck he can actually buy.
