What’s Happening?

As the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Watkins Glen International for its second road course event of the year, Frankie Muniz will be notably absent from this weekend’s race. Here’s why.

Frankie Muniz, the 40-year-old actor-turned-racer, was optimistic about turning a new page with the newly rebranded Team Reaume (formerly Reaume Brothers Racing) this season.

Muniz made his full-time NASCAR National Series debut with the Truck Series team last season, and, despite a fresh start after a late injury last year, the on-track results haven’t been showstoppers for the No. 33.

Tacking onto his tough start, as the NASCAR circus heads to The Glen this weekend, Team Reaume announced this past Sunday that conflicting commitments have forced Muniz to skip the upcoming Bully Hill Vineyards 176 at The Glen.

The “Malcolm in the Middle” star is set to compete in GT4 action at Sebring International Raceway this Friday, where he currently holds third in the championship standings.

Per the post from Team Reaume, “Frankie Muniz will not compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Watkins Glen International due to a scheduling conflict with his GT4 America racing program.”

While he has had a tough go in trucks, on the GT4 side of things, Muniz currently sits third in points, and this weekend’s race at Sebring could help build on his strong start to the season in the series.

As for his replacement, Stephen Mallozzi will drive the No. 33 truck for the team.

Through seven races this season, Muniz has recorded two top-20 finishes (16th and 18th) at the expense of one DNF.
