What’s Happening?

NASCAR diecast remains one of the most important aspects of NASCAR collecting. On Thursday, Lionel Racing released its annual best-sellers list for the 2024 season. Here are the top ten best-selling diecasts of the 2024 NASCAR season.

Quick Stats

  • Five of the top ten are “Race Win” diecast
  • Five of the top ten are Hendrick Motorsports drivers
  • Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott tied for the most featured in the top ten with two cars each
  • All but one entry is a NASCAR Cup Series Car

10: Joey Logano 2024 Shell-Pennzoil Champion

Coming in at ten is the yearly championship diecast. This year, Joey Logano won Team Penske’s third straight NASCAR Cup Series Championship. After a slow start to the season, Logano rallied late in the Playoffs to take home an improbable third NASCAR Cup Series Championship. His themed diecast comes in tenth among all diecasts in 2024.

9: Tyler Reddick 2024 Jordan Brand White Talladega Win

When you combine Michael Jordan with NASCAR, people will go crazy. Combine that with a win at Talladega, and you get a hot commodity. Reddick’s victory at Talladega, Jordan’s second as an owner at the track, is one of the most memorable of 2024. While the Jordan branding on the car made for a great story, the man himself, Michael Jordan, being in attendance made this win all the more special.

8: Chase Elliott 2024 Hooters

Georgia native Chase Elliott and his Georgia native sponsor, Hooters, returned for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. While Chase is a top seller no matter what, a revamped No. 9 with the iconic Hooters branding was surely going to make this a top-selling diecast for 2024. This diecast is a collector’s item, as following a dispute, Hooter’s and Hendrick Motorsports have parted ways.

7: Kyle Larson 2024 Indianapolis Win

Following his attempt at the Indianapolis 500, Kyle Larson caught a plane to Charlotte to arrive just shy of a weather-shortened race. At the time, it looked as if Kyle Larson would not get to drive his special McLaren-themed No. 5; HMS had other plans. The car returned for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a race that Larson won after leading just eight laps.

6: Corey LaJoie 2024 Chili’s “Catch a Rita”

Before he departed from Spire Motorsports, Corey Lajoie and Spire landed a major sponsor in Chili’s. This car was the first time Chili’s sponsored a car in NASCAR, and fans reacted accordingly. The flashy margarita-inspired car was surely going to be a top-selling diecast and laps in the sixth spot in the 2024 rankings.

5: Brad Keselowski 2024 Castrol Throwback Darlington Win

Brad Keselowski’s 2024 Castrol Throwback already looked like a top seller when RFK Racing announced this 1997 TOM’s Supra-inspired paint scheme. However, Brad went on to win his first race since 2021 that weekend at Darlington and created a slick-looking race-winning car in the process.

4: William Byron 2024 Daytona 500 Win

In HMS’ 40th anniversary season, they won big at big tracks. These wins included a win in the season-opening Daytona 500. This win was HMS’ ninth Daytona 500 win, tying them for the most all-time with Petty Enterprises. It was also the first Daytona 500 win for the No. 24 since Jeff Gordon did so in 2005.

3: Kyle Larson 2024 HendrickCars.com Throwback

As part of HMS’ 40th anniversary season, they unveiled several great throwback schemes for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington. This included a throwback to Terry Labonte’s 1996 Kellogg’s championship-winning scheme. This car took home the fan favorite vote at the race and ranks third in 2024 diecast sales.

2: Chase Elliott 2024 Hooters Texas Win

Elliott doubled down on his new Hooters scheme with a win at Texas Motor Speedway. This win was a long time coming for Elliott fans, as Chase’s last win prior to this was at Pocono in July 2022. Furthermore, this win was a long time coming for Hooters, who had not won a race since Alan Kulwicki did so at Pocono in Jun 1992.

1: Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2024 Budweiser Late Model

It should be no surprise that Dale Earnhardt Jr’s No. 8 Budweiser Late Model topped the list in 2024. Not only was this the return of the Dale Earnhardt Incorporated No. 8, but Earnhardt’s longtime sponsor, Budweiser, hopped on his Late Model, resulting in what was going to be a top seller no matter what.
