What’s Happening?

It’s a very happy Good Friday in the NASCAR world. Even though the NASCAR Cup Series is enjoying its first off weekend of the 2026 season, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on at the historic Rockingham Speedway. First on deck is a Friday afternoon showdown for the Trucks. Last year, Tyler Ankrum went on to get the job done. Who’ll get it done this year? This is what you need to keep an eye out for in today’s Black’s Tire 200 at the Rock.

Pre-Race Notes:

  • For the second-straight year, Jake Garcia put his ThorSport Ford on the pole with a staggering time of 21.893. Driving the No. 98 truck this year, keep an eye on him. This marks his fourth career Truck Series pole.
  • Also quick in qualifying were Tanner Gray (who earned the outside pole) Kaden Honeycutt, who continues to impress in that No. 11 Toyota for Tricon Garage. Layne Riggs also earned a top 5 qualifying spot.
  • The weather was a big point of concern heading into this afternoon’s race. Prior to qualifying, it rained all morning and late yesterday afternoon. However, by the time practice and qualifying went down, the sun was shining for what should be a beautiful Friday afternoon race.
  • Another driver to watch today is perhaps the NASCAR Truck Series GOAT, Corey Heim. Heim is back in the Truck Series this weekend, driving the Tricon No. 1 Toyota. Two weeks ago, Heim won in their No. 5 entry. He’s rolling off 7th today, looking for career win number 25.
  • Although Daniel Dye has been reinstated by NASCAR, he and RAM Trucks/Kaulig Racing have parted ways. Filling out the remainder of the 2026 schedule in the No. 10 entry will be Corey Lajoie.
  • With 38 trucks showing up for 36 available positions, two entries failed to make the race. Those two today were Justin Carroll and Jonathan Shaffer.
  • Coverage for the Rock’s Tire 200 begins at 4:30 PM EST on FS1.
