What’s Happening?

Las Vegas is one of the more interesting tracks on the NASCAR schedule, especially in the NextGen Era. Camping there is a fun time, as it is with any track on the NASCAR schedule. Here’s everything you can expect when camping at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

  • Las Vegas Motor Speedway officially opened in 1971 though it wasn’t added onto the NASCAR schedule until the 1996 season. In 1999, the track was acquired by Speedway Motorsports Incorporated who still owns and operates it to this day. In length, the track is 1.5 mile and is categorized as a trioval intermediate speedway.
  • From 1996 until 2018, the facility hosted only a single race per year, typically in the beginning portion of the season as part of the west coast swing. Starting in 2018, however, the track started hosting two NASCAR Cup Series races a year: one in the early spring and one in the fall during the NASCAR Playoffs. In 2024, the first Las Vegas race occurred in early March as a part of the aforementioned west coast swing. The second race of the year is currently scheduled for October 20, 2024 and will be the first race of the Round of 8.
  • Fans enjoy the various amenities and at-track atmosphere while camping at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
