What’s Happening?
Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina, is one of NASCAR’s most historic tracks and is the home to some of the best racing and camping on the schedule. Here is everything to expect from NASCAR’s official camping notebook.
- Darlington Raceway opened in 1950 and is known for its distinct character from other tracks on the NASCAR circuit. The track is 1.366 miles long. The track’s first corner is the typical wide-sweeping turn, while the second corner features a narrower build, leaving the track with a recognizable egg shape.
- Darlington has historically hosted two race weekends a year. However, from 2005-2019, the track only had one. The second race weekend returned for 2021, giving the track two weekends a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The spring race hosts NASCAR’s official throwback weekend featuring the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The fall race weekend takes place on Labor Day weekend and is headlined by the NASCAR crown jewel race, the Southern 500, alongside the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
