This weekend, NASCAR is back east for a NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Cup Series doubleheader action. So, whether you are going to be at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for the race weekend in Richmond, Virginia?

• Richmond Raceway joined the NASCAR schedule in 1958 and has maintained one to two race weekends annually since then. In 1988, the original 0.542-mile oval was reconfigured into the track’s current 0.750-mile configuration.
• The NASCAR Cup Series hosted a spring and fall race date at Richmond for the majority of its history; in 2025, that date was moved to Mexico City, and this season, to San Diego. The Truck Series first raced at Richmond in 1995, leaving after 2005 and returning in 2020.
• Richmond has a recent history of rain-affected races, but with NASCAR’s wet weather package, small showers can keep cars on track.
