What’s Happening?

For the first time in its storied history, Dover Motor Speedway will host NASCAR’s All-Star weekend. So, whether you are going to be at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for the race weekend in Dover, Delaware?

  • Dover Motor Speedway is one of NASCAR’s most well-known race tracks, having hosted the NASCAR Cup Series since 1969. Throughout its history, the one-mile oval has been known by several names, including Dover Downs International Speedway, Dover International Speedway, and Dover Motor Speedway.
  • This year will be the first-ever All-Star Race at the track, an honor it swapped for a points-paying race with North Wilkesboro Speedway. While this will be the first year since 1969 that the track will not have a points-paying race, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will host both of their usual race weekends at the track.
  • Dover has had some hit or miss weather over the past few years, with a particularly tough stretch of rain-affected races in the early 2020s.
