What’s Happening?
Thursday morning, Tricon Garage announced that Corey Heim will return to the team’s No. 11 truck in 2025. This decision follows months of speculation about Heim’s future in NASCAR.
- Entering 2024, Corey Heim seemed like the best prospect Toyota had in its lineup. However, despite his constant winning, he has not been able to break through to the next level. Heim officially entered a junior year campaign with Tricon Garage, and his short-term future is no longer in question.
- This season in Tricon’s No. 11 in the Craftsman Truck Series, Heim has six wins, 13 top-fives, and 17 top-tens. This season, Heims is having a tight back-and-forth battle with Christian Eckes for the championship. Alongside these starts, Heim consistently makes starts with Sam Hunt Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
- Despite running well for Toyota’s second-tier Xfinity Series team, Heim has never made a start with Toyota’s premiere team, Joe Gibbs Racing. Most accredit this to a poor relationship with Gibbs’ grandson, Ty, dating back to the two driver’s ARCA days.
- Entering 2025, Heim has another oppurtunity to continue proving himself with Toyota’s top truck series team. While he made starts with Legacy MC and 23XI in the Cup Series this year, a clogged Toyota developmental system is raising questions about his future with the manufacturer.
- Throughout this season, fans have argued online about whether Heim should wait for an opening at the formerly mentioned Cup Teams or leave Toyota altogether. For now, Heim is sticking with Toyota. There may be a route in place for the talented young driver to keep moving forward.
