What’s Happening?

Richard Childress Racing may have accidentally leaked a new race car. @NASCARSON on X posted a picture that shows an RCR No. 33 car with Austin Hill’s name across the top. The location of the photo is unclear, but, it is clearly in a race shop, which would likely be Richard Childress Racing’s race shop. RCR has made no formal announcement, so, we don’t know for sure what this car is.

  • Richard Childress Racing still owns the No. 33 car in NASCAR, but, the car has been exclusively a part-time or open entry since Clint Bowyer left following the 2011 season. Most recently, RCR used the number to field a car for Brodie Kostecki at Indianapolis in 2023.
  • Austin Hill is an Xfinity Series driver for RCR. He’s won 8 races since he joined the team in 2022, including back-to-back wins to start the 2023 season. Six of his wins have come on superspeedways, so, if they enter a third car, a superspeedway could be the most likely option.
  • Fans are curious about this leak, and they wonder what RCR has up their sleeve. Could Austin Hill be getting a Cup Series start?
