The nomination comes on the back of a remarkable start to Reddick’s 2026 season. Driving for 23XI Racing, he has become the benchmark in the NASCAR Cup Series, leading the championship standings for 18th week straight while putting together the strongest season of his career so far.
His consistency and race-winning pace have made him one of the leading contenders for the Cup Series title, and that sustained excellence has now been recognized beyond NASCAR.
At this year’s ESPYs, Reddick will compete against an elite field that spans multiple racing disciplines. His fellow nominees include Formula 1 stars Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli, as well as IndyCar driver Alex Palou.
Being grouped with three of the biggest names in global motorsports highlights the value of the nomination, as the award is not limited to a single racing series but recognizes outstanding performances across the entire motorsports landscape.
More significantly, he is the only NASCAR driver to be nominated for Best Driver, placing him alongside some of the most accomplished competitors in international motorsports.
Reddick currently sits atop the NASCAR Cup Series standings and has accumulated more wins (five) than any other driver this year. Among those wins is the Daytona 500. Capturing the Daytona 500 while leading the championship has strengthened his case as one of the standout drivers in all of motorsports during 2026.
While several NASCAR drivers have enjoyed competitive outings, Reddick’s performances have stood out enough to earn recognition on a stage that includes Formula 1 and IndyCar, making him the sport’s sole representative in one of the ESPYs’ marquee awards.
The winner will be announced at the 2026 ESPY Awards, scheduled for July 15 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.
