What’s Happening?
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion Ty Majeski is protesting the controversial finish of the 2025 Snowball Derby late model race at Five Flags Speedway that saw the 31-year-old lose the race following a late black flag.

Majeski, a two-time winner of the 300-lap event, dominated for the better part of the afternoon. But a late race restart (or restarts) spelled disaster for the NASCAR regular.
Headed for a late race restart with 13 to go, Majeski, on the inside and Stephen Nasse on the outside, very clearly jumped the start box, re-racking the field for yet another restart.
The second time around, the restart from Majeski was by all means solid, albeit still questionable with his No. 91 blazing back out front.
Unfortunately for Majeski, track officials did not agree with his restart, and he was greeted by a black flag as scoring counted down to eight laps to go.
Officials would have to stop scoring the No. 91, as Majeski stayed on track and raced Nasse to the finish. Though Majeski finished well in front of the No. 51, Nasse took home the win in his 15th career try at the derby.
In the immediate aftermath, those at the track saw Majeski protesting the black flag with track officials on the front stretch, and, in tech inspection, per footage from Matt Weaver of Short Track Scene, Majeski formally, and verbally, announced “I am Formally Filing a Protest.”

Ultimately, after some time of deliberation, Majeski was not awarded a win, with the ThorSport Racing veteran saying there was a “black cloud” surrounding this year’s snowball derby.

Ty Majeski says he doesn't care about next year and this is about $50,000 and now there’s a black cloud over the race
Stephen Nasse is the first driver without a NASCAR National Series start since Derek Thorn in 2022 to win the non-NASCAR-sanctioned race, and only the second non-NASCAR driver to win the race since 2020.
Majeski’s fellow Craftsman Truck Series drivers Dawson Sutton and Jake Garcia would finish second and third behind Nasse.
Other notable finishers include David Gilliland in 12th, Derek Kraus in 17th, Kyle Busch in 19th, Majeski in 23rd, and Kaden Honeycutt in 26th.
