What’s Happening?

90 laps down, 110 to go at the Rock for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Black’s Tire 200. We saw a lot of great racing early on with the drivers fighting loose track conditions and a multi-groove racing surface. We also saw the threat of rain creeping into the picture on the radar. With that in mind, here’s where we stand after two stages at Rockingham Speedway.

Mid-Race Report

  • Jake Garcia started the race from the pole position, but it was outside pole winner Tanner Gray who got out front early to lead the opening laps. However, Corey Heim, who was confident heading into today’s race, noted that he had a better truck than he did a couple of weeks back at Darlington. He wasted little time working his way through to the race lead.
  • Heim went on to pick up where he left off early in the race, leading a majority of the 45-lap opening stage. Subsequently, he went on to collect his 44th career stage win. Heim is a part of the Triple Truck Challenge. Two weeks ago at Darlington, he won the race and a $50,000 bonus. If he wins today, he’ll earn an additional $100,000 bonus.
  • Points earners for the first stage include Ty Majeski (9), Kaden Honeycutt (8), Layne Riggs (7), Tanner Gray (6), Cole Butcher (5), Jake Garcia (4), and Gio Ruggiero (2).
  • To start Stage 2, Grant Enfinger got a great push from Ty Majeski, allowing the No. 9 to take over the race lead. It didn’t last long, though, as Corey Heim worked his way back up to regain the lead of the race. He went on to sweep the stages, his eyes firmly on that $100,000 prize.
  • Earning points in today’s second stage were: Ty Majeski (9), Kaden Honeycutt (8), Layne Riggs (7), Grant Enfinger (6), Tanner Gray (5), Stewart Friesen (4), Daniel Hemric (3), Cole Butcher (2), and Jake Garcia (1).
  • During the second stage, Brenden Queen got hard into the wall but was able to continue on. At the conclusion of the second stage, only one truck was out of the race: the No. 5 of Adam Andretti, who caused the only caution for incident during the first half of the race.
