- Despite the former Supercars champion struggling on ovals this year, Trackhouse has seen that his skill on road courses far outweighs his struggles. This extension finds van Gisbergen fresh off a summer stretch in which he won three NASCAR Cup Series races, boosting him from 33rd to 25th in points and locking the No. 88 into the playoffs.
- Though he is a rookie, this contract, as a “multiyear” deal, will at least see van Gisbergen racing in NASCAR until his 28th season in 2027. As of press time, van Gisbergen’s dominance on road courses has seen the Kiwi take a commanding 129-point lead over Riley Herbst in a rather lackluster Cup Series Rookie of the Year battle.
- This locks van Gisbergen into Trackhouse Racing’s 2026 lineup alongside Ross Chastain, with one spot left to fill. Daniel Suarez currently holds this seat, which is likely to be taken over by Conner Zilisch in 2026. Suarez’s departure is confirmed, though Zilisch’s promotion is not.
- Van Gisbergen found his way to the US after winning 80 races and three championships in the Australian supercars. Trackhouse, via their Project91 entry, invited van Gisbergen to race in the inaugural Chicago street race in 2023. Van Gisbergen won that race and earned a developmental contract with Trackhouse, racing in Xfinity last season before his promotion for 2025.
- In his combined 73 career NASCAR National Series starts, van Gisbergen has four wins and five poles in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and four wins and poles in the NASCAR Cup Series.
