What’s Happening?

NASCAR legend Tony Stewart is returning to NASCAR gaming with a spot in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series roster in iRacing Studios’ upcoming game, NASCAR 26.

  • Stewart, now a full-time drag racer in the NHRA’s Top Fuel Division, returned to NASCAR action earlier this season with Kaulig Racing. Though this moment was short-lived, it won’t go anywhere anytime soon, as iRacing’s NASCAR 26 will feature Stewart’s truck.
  • Though the game has yet to officially list Stewart as an in-game driver, the three-time Cup Series champion and two-time owners’ champion is prominently featured in Wednesday’s highly anticipated gameplay trailer.
  • Most fans questioned whether or not he would have a spot in the game, as his start was months ago. Last week, when iRacing released the first episode of their Dev Diary, which showed off roster sizes on a menu screen, these hopes increased as the Truck Series roster had ballooned in size since last year’s game.
  • Stewart is one of the more prominent figures in NASCAR console gaming, serving as the cover athlete for NASCAR 2001, NASCAR Thunder: 2004, and NASCAR 14. He most recently appeared in a NASCAR game as a legendary driver in the Gold Edition of 2020’s NASCAR Heat 5.
