What’s Happening?

In the NASCAR Next Gen Era, the summer stretch of Road Course races often attracts outside talent. According to a new report, three V8 Supercars regulars are expected to make NASCAR starts this summer in two NASCAR National series.

Cup Series Returns

According to a May 13 report from Andrew Clarke of Auto Action, Superscars stars Will Brown, Cam Waters, and Broc Feeney will pursue NASCAR starts this summer. Brown and Waters made their Cup Series debuts in 2024, while the 22-year-old Feeney has yet to race in NASCAR.

Brown and Waters are expected to race in the Jul. 6 Grant Park 165 on the streets of Chicago. However, no teams or the two drivers have confirmed these dates.

According to this report, Brown, who debuted with Richard Childress Racing in 2024, will likely race with Kaulig Racing. RCR has limited space for Chicago, as Austin Hill is driving the Chevrolet team’s part-time No. 33 at Chicago. Brown’s Supercars team, Red Bull Ampol Racing, currently enters Chevrolets. If Brown does not race with Kaulig, it seems likely he would race with another Chevrolet team.

The report did not list a team for Waters, who raced in RFK Racing’s then-part-time No. 60 at Sonoma last summer. RFK has since brought the No. 60 full-time with Ryan Preece as its driver. While they can enter a fourth car, it is unclear if this could happen. Waters currently races for Tickford Racing, which races Ford Mustangs. So, if RFK does not enter a fourth car, perhaps another Ford team could step up.

Broc Feeny’s NASCAR Debut

Feeny, a teammate of Brown at Red Bull Ampol Racing, has already been the center of talks about a potential Xfinity Series ride. An Apr. 10 report from Stefan Bartholomaeus of Speedcafe claimed that Feeney could enter races with Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season.

That same report also claimed that Brown and Kaulig Racing were looking at an open spot for the Chicago Street Circuit.

To add fuel to the fire, Feeny was seen at Martinsville hanging out with former Red Bull Ampol Racing driver and current Trackhouse Racing talent Shane van Gisbergen. Now, it appears that Feeny could make that Xfinity Series debut in Jul. 5’s The Loop 110 at Chicago.
