What’s Happening?

Part-time Truck Series and well-known Late Model driver Cole Butcher is set to compete full-time with ThorSport Racing in the No. 13 during the 2026 Craftsman Truck Series season, the team announced Thursday.

  • The 29-year-old made his NASCAR National Series debut last season in Halmar-Friesen Racing’s No. 62 truck, having made two starts in 2025. Both of these starts came on short tracks, with Butcher finishing 23rd in both races at Bristol and Phoenix.
  • Butcher made his name racing on the grassroots level over the past few seasons, winning major late model races like the Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2022 and 2023, and the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway in 2024. The Canadian also scored a win in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2023.
  • Throughout the off-season, many rumors were hinting that Butcher could move to full-time action in 2025. Many of these rumors suggested he would end up in the Toyota camp, either with TRICON Garage or an expanded Halmar-Friesen Racing, making his move to ThorSport and Ford, somewhat of a surprise.
  • Butcher will drive the No. 13, most recently driven by Jake Garcia in 2024 and 2025. Garcia returns to ThorSport for 2026, but moves to the No. 98, formerly driven by 2024 Truck Series Champion Ty Majeski, who takes over for the now-retired Matt Crafton.
