What’s Happening?

Fresh off his first win of 2026 last weekend, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Chase Briscoe is set to make his 200th start of his NASCAR Cup Series career at EchoPark Speedway this weekend.

After making his 199th Cup start in style with a trip to Victory Lane, the Indiana native now has an opportunity to celebrate his 200th race.

The 30-year-old first announced himself on NASCAR’s biggest stage in 2022 when he bagged his maiden Cup victory at Phoenix Raceway. That win carried historic significance, as it made Briscoe the 200th different driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race.

Since then, his career has continued to trend upward. During his years with Stewart-Haas Racing, Briscoe developed into one of the organization’s cornerstone drivers before making the high-profile move to Joe Gibbs Racing.

The transition placed him in one of NASCAR’s premier organizations, and after a period of adjustment, the results have begun reflecting the potential many believed he possessed.

His standout season came last year when he reached the Championship 4 for the first time in his Cup Series career.

Under NASCAR’s previous “win-and-you’re-in” playoff format, Briscoe secured his postseason berth with a win at Pocono before elevating his performance even further during the playoffs.

He won two of the final 10 races and ultimately finished third in the championship, showing the kind of speed and consistency typically associated with Joe Gibbs Racing’s championship-caliber program.

That momentum appears to be carrying into 2026. Through the opening 19 races, Briscoe has produced an average finish of 15.2 while collecting one win, seven top-five finishes, and nine top-10s.

Although three of his races have ended in DNFs, his overall performance has kept him firmly in the playoff picture and positioned him among the championship contenders heading into the second half of the season.

However, the timing of his 200th start also presents an interesting challenge, since, despite his recent form, EchoPark Speedway has not been one of Briscoe’s strongest tracks statistically.

Across 11 Cup Series starts at the Georgia oval, he owns an average finish of 22.0, along with one top-five finish, one top-10 finish, and four top-20 results. The track has often proven difficult for the No. 19 driver.

Yet, given the confidence surrounding both Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing following their Chicagoland success, there is reason to believe his previous results at EchoPark Speedway may not tell the full story.
