This past off-season was one of the most difficult for NASCAR fans in recent memory.
Alongside a heated trial between two of NASCAR’s top teams and the sport itself, fans were hit hard on December 18 when a plane crash killed eight people, including NASCAR legend Greg Biffle and his family.
In the aftermath of his passing, friends, fans, competitors, team owners, and politicians have all paid tribute to Biffle. But now these tributes to the Biff will hit the track in 2026.
During his NASCAR career, Biffle sported a unique number that stood out not only amongst his teammates during his 14 full-time seasons at Roush Racing/Roush-Fenway Racing, but in all of the sport.
After months of speculation from fans, Kaulig Racing confirmed Thursday morning that A.J. Allmendinger‘s No. 16 will carry the iconic design of Biffle’s No. 16, including the yellow numbering used during his time carrying sponsor 3M.
Alongside Kaulig, Biffle’s former team, now known as RFK Racing, will all field special cars utilizing the number set used by the No. 16 team, an idea initially suggested by race fans in the immediate aftermath of Biffle’s tragic death.
Something everyone wanted to see. 🙌

All four RFK entries in the Daytona 500 will sport number designs based on Biffle No. 16, and throughout the 2026 season, the team’s three full-time cars will also carry a special decal in memory of Biffle.

The tributes to the Biff haven’t stopped with his Cup Series family, as Biffle’s close friend, Garrett Mitchell, better known by his screen name Cleetus McFarland on YouTube, carried the phrase “Be Like Biff” during ARCA’s pre-season test at Daytona earlier this month.

Though fans continue to mourn Biffle and all those lost in December’s plane crash, these memorials have eased the emotions of fans and ensured that his legacy will not be forgotten.
