NASCAR’s adventure to open-wheel country may be wrapped up, but there’s still time to put a bow on the festivities. Here are the bottom five drivers from each NASCAR National Series race this past weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Cassten Everidge
Is it cool that an Indiana native got to make their debut at one of the region’s most iconic short tracks? Yes. Will anyone remember this by the end of the year? No.
Christian Eckes
Did anyone see this coming? Mr. Consistency finishing this low? The team made the Chase this weekend (somehow), but we all know this cannot happen in just a few weeks.
Daniel Hemric
A double appearance for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing on this week’s list? That’s wild, and even worse, that cutline is getting closer and closer to the No. 19 team.
Landen Lewis
This week, Landen Lewis is Niece Motorsports’ submission to the bottom five. It’s his first appearance of the season, and we do welcome him, but let’s not overlook just how good he has been this season.
Jackson MacEnko
Jackson, you never want to finish in last place in NASCAR, but at least you got it out of the way in your first start.
Blake Lothian
The first of two Gase entries on our list this week, and all things aside, the No. 53 team has managed not to have a last-place finish this season, and, as surprising as it is, that’s pretty cool.
David Starr
There’s a lot of talk about where NASCAR will be in ten years. While we don’t have an answer, we hope that David Starr will still be out there somewhere scoring his annual top-20 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series finish surrounded by bottom-five finishes.
Joey Gase
Bringing up the year for Gase is the boss himself, who has had a few impressive runs this season. This was not one of those weekends.
Jeremy Clements
In a weekend where Hendrick power dominated the top ten, it really is a tragedy that Jeremy Clements is all the way down here, so much for that turnaround season.
J.J. Yeley
Don’t worry, Ford fans, J.J. Yeley and the Zombie Mustang have you covered on Saturdays. We hope you don’t expect much from them, though.
Casey Mears
A solid career average finish means nothing when you’re chasing immortality. But after Casey retires, who’s to say he doesn’t go for 1000 career starts? The sponsorship is bound to be out there somewhere.
Riley Herbst
Has Riley Herbst had a better 2026 than his 2025? Absolutely. Does that make watching Corey Heim win twice this season hurt him any less? Probably not.
Chase Elliott
Chase Elliott is now behind Carson Hocevar in points; that’s it, that’s the sentence. Go back to that whole LaJoie, Elliott, Hocevar swap at Gateway 2023 and tell yourself that.
Daniel Dye
Daniel Dye’s time with Live Fast is very quickly approaching the obscure start territory. Like, we’re talking Ryan Sieg at BK Racing levels of forgettable.
Kyle Larson
Does anyone know what happened to Kyle last season? Was it the wrecks in and leading up to the Indy 500? There is just something about Yung Money and The Brickyard.
