What’s Happening?
NASCAR’s split weekend is over, and all we learned is that NASCAR really waits out a race if it could mean a good ending. Here are the bottom five drivers from each NASCAR National Series race this past weekend at Lime Rock Park and EchoPark Speedway.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Thomas Annunziata
Nothing to say here, we are just glad that Hollywood is okay after Saturday. Prior to the fire, Annunziata was battling with series regulars at the front, the first win is coming, and it’s going to be sweet when it does.
Chandler Smith
Entering the summer, the No. 38 team looked to be on pace for another great season. Now, Chandler hasn’t been that bad, but man, the summer run has been a tough one for this team. Luckily, their driver isn’t rumored to be looking to go elsewhere in 2027. Right?
Ben Rhodes
It feels as if, with the retirement of Matt Crafton, the curse of the meddling Truck Series veteran was passed down to Ben Rhodes, who now has his worst career average finish and just five top tens. While fans may be asking if Rhodes could be on the downswing of his career, this is your annual reminder that he is only 29.
Ty Majeski
Ty Majeski is appearing on our lists more and more often, and a 33rd, 35th, and 32nd in three of his last five races will do that. If Rhodes decline is a hard stat to look at, Majeski’s isn’t too pretty either, with a 17.7 average finish through 14 races, a far shot from his 9.8 in 2028.
Ben Maier
While it’s always tough to accept that you had a last-place finish, everyone has to have their first ben, at least you got yours out of the way before you even turned 18.
NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series
Harrison Burton
While Harrison made the chase with (checks notes) AM Racing last season, the door is probably already closed for him in his new home. Seriously, did anyone have Dean Thompson racing in front of Harrison Burton this season in points?
Logan Bearden
The No. 38 team is so fun, each weekend rolling into the track with a different driver and an OEM. For the race at Indianapolis, let’s go with Harry Gant driving a Toyota just for fun.
Carson Ware
Carson Ware is three for three in races with different teams this season, adding Mike Harmon’s team to the bunch this past weekend. Say what you will about the Ware kids, but the fact that this is his worst finish of the season really says something.
Joey Gase
For those keeping track, this is Joey’s fifth appearance in the bottom five this season, and he has yet to actually score a last-place finish. That has got to be some record if anyone kept track of those things.
Jeb Burton
Leading the way with the worst finish of the Burton double header is the elder of the two cousins. Everyone loves Jeb, and it’s hard not to, but zero laps completed is just brutal.
NASCAR Cup Series
Kyle Larson
Taxes, Penske dominance at drafting tracks, and Kyle Larson wrecking or just finishing bad at Atlanta (at least he still got those points), tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, and you know the rest.
Riley Herbst
Surely, NASCAR fans online will not use this finish to complain about Riley (allegedly) going to Legacy Motor Club next season. Oh, wait, they did immediately, nice.
Chase Briscoe
Oh, the difference a week makes. Still, it’s not like it’s a bad thing to be the worst-standing driver at Joe Gibbs Racing these days; the No. 19 team will be fine.
A.J. Allmendinger
We all thought A.J. was going to win this race, right? Like, what is going on at Kaulig? There is no support from Chevrolet, and the No. 16 is still kicking? Anyway, all hopes and dreams of a Kaulig Chase underdog story went by the wayside this weekend.
B.J. McLeod
It’s always a pleasure to see B.J. on track, don’t get us wrong, but he might actually have some of the worst luck of any open driver in the Charter era. He’s only completed 29.9% of his possible 734 laps this season; the 220 he has completed is fewer than the total number of laps in Sunday’s race.
