What’s Happening?
The goal of every driver tackling the full 26-race NASCAR Cup Series schedule in 2026 is a championship. In 2026, six former champions will set out to add one more Bill France Cup to their trophy room.
One-Time Cup Series Champions
No. 6 | Brad Keselowski | RFK Racing
No. 9 | Chase Elliott | Hendrick Motorsports
No. 12 | Ryan Blaney | Team Penske
These drivers each have one NASCAR Cup Series title to their name, though they all won their titles under different circumstances.
Tony Stewart beating out prime Jimmie Johnson was one thing, but Brad Keselowski, just a handful of years removed from making backmarker Truck Series starts for his family-owned team, doing so was incredible. The days of the 2012 championship run may be in the rearview mirror, but that doesn’t mean Keselowski can’t get the job done week in and week out to compete for a title.
Chase Elliott also won his championship during a dominant period for a NASCAR legend. Though Kevin Harvick dominated that 2020 season, Elliott, known for his quiet regular-season efforts, slid through the playoffs and into the championship four. Elliott may have found his groove in 2025, and if he returns to form, he could be a championship threat in 2026.
Elliott’s recent slump began the same year that Ryan Blaney found himself sitting atop the NASCAR world. During the 2023 season, Blaney took a step back from consistency and focused on winning when it mattered most, using a regular-season win, a round-of-eight win, and a round-of-four win to propel him to his first-ever Cup Series championship.
Two-Time Cup Series Champions
No. 5 | Kyle Larson | Hendrick Motorsports
No. 8 | Kyle Busch | Richard Childress Racing
It’s the Kyle and Kyle show for two-time champions, which includes the sport’s most recent champion, Kyle Larson.
Larson won the 2025 championship thanks to a late caution at Phoenix Raceway this past fall, but don’t let that moment misdirect you from the fact that his 2025 season was extremely consistent. Of course, this past season was nothing compared to Larson’s masterful 2021 campaign, where the then first-year Hendrick Motorsports driver dominated the Cup Series, winning 10 races.
This past year was the tenth anniversary of Busch’s first Cup title, a title that he won despite missing 11 races and utilizing NASCAR’s then-new playoff system to propel him to a championship. His second championship, though he had fewer hoops to jump through, came in 2019, where Busch capped off his decade of dominance with a win at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Three-Time Cup Series Champions
No. 22 | Joey Logano | Team Penske
Joey Logano is the only full-time driver in NASCAR to have three NASCAR Cup Series titles, and if he gets in a rhythm, that number could very well be four by the end of 2026.
The 35-year-old is currently in an odd stretch of his career, in which he has won one race, four races, then one race, then four races, then one race, from 2021 to 2025. During those four race win seasons, 2022 and 2024, Logano walked away with a title, something he could very well do with another four-win campaign in 2026.
