Go Bowling at The Glen: Watkins Glen International

This weekend marks the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series postseason race at Watkins Glen International, one of two road courses featured in the 2024 playoffs. On Saturday, drivers and teams had extended practice to adapt to the track’s new updates, including added rumble strips and interchangeable curbing in the Inner Loop Chicane. Goodyear also introduced a new tire, which was recently tested, adding another variable to the competition.

HEAR FROM CINDRIC: “I am happy with how practice went and the guys did a great job adjusting to the unknowns going into the weekend and we were able to execute a good qualifying session and get us a good starting spot at a place where track position is super important. A solid start to the weekend. We just have to execute tomorrow.”

WATKINS GLEN HISTORY: Team Penske achieved its first NASCAR Cup Series win at Watkins Glen in 2015 as Joey Logano claimed the checkered flag, leading just the final lap. The victory completed a weekend sweep, as Logano won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race the day prior. In total, the organization has 16 top-five and 28 top-10 finishes at the 2.45-mile track. Austin Cindric has emerged victorious at the New York track, recording his first Xfinity Series win there in 2019 after starting second and leading eight laps. Ryan Blaney has three top-10 finishes at The Glen in the Cup Series, including a fifth-place finish in 2019.
