Every year it seems like silly season starts earlier and earlier and I know it’s only the first week of the month of May, but it feels like we are deep into silly season. We just got a very surprising driver announcement and some positive news for Erik Jones. Luckily for us, Eric from Out Of The Groove is here to break it all down.

  • The Charter Agreement negotiations have been on everyone’s mind this season. Just a year and a half ago the price tag on a charter was 41 million, now we don’t even know if they’re going to exist in a few months. This could be why we saw reports that JTG Daughtry Racing was selling their charter, now that they’ve re-signed Steinhouse it seems like a potential split is coming. What would a JTG Daughtry split look like for NASCAR?
  • Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. has only picked up one win and 12 top fives in the last seven years, so him being re-signed was surprising for reasons other than the ownership drama. Do you think Ricky deserved another three-year deal or should a younger driver have a shot?
  • Erik Jones has been cleared by doctors to race but as a cautionary measure, he will miss this weekend’s race at Kansas. Maybe only a decade ago if a driver was cleared he was racing no matter what, some drivers possibly raced even if they weren’t cleared. Do you think this change in the attitude around Injuries is good for NASCAR?

What team do you think Kroger will go to after JTG Daughtry racing? Who else would you put in the 47 car? Would you have raced in Kansas if you were Erik Jones? Let Out Of The Groove know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
