According to a new report from Stefan Bartholomaeus of Speedcafe, Brown, a 27-year-old native of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, will join a yet-to-be-announced list of substitute drivers for the No. 11.
At press time, Kaulig Racing has yet to announce who will drive the car in Portland, let alone any driver other than Carson Hocevar, who will drive the No. 11 this weekend at Iowa Speedway.
After parting ways with veteran talent Josh Willlaims on Wednesday, Kaulig Racing is without a permanent driver for the No. 11 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. However, Kaulig’s President, Chris Rice, while denying rumors that the program was shutting down, has claimed that they will soon announce the full lineup.
During that same interview, Rice left NASCAR fans with a cliffhanger, hinting that someone special would drive their newly opened No. 11 car at Portland. Speaking with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Thursday Morning, Rice said, “I think everybody’s going to be surprised with the standalone race that’s coming up in Portland.”
If the team does opt for Brown, it will be the Aussie’s Xfinity Series debut and second start with the team this year. His first start with Kaulig in the No. 13, in the NASCAR Cup Series race on the streets of Chicago, ended two laps in despite a career-best start for Brown.
Speedcafe was amongst the first to report that Brown would race at Chicago shortly before Kaulig confirmed the partnership on May 14. This race was not the Triple Eight drivers’ NASCAR debut, as he did so with Richard Childress Racing at Sonoma Raceway in 2024, driving their part-time No. 33.
