What’s Happening?
In an abrupt post on X today, DGM Racing announced that they will be parting ways with Ryan Ellis at the end of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season. The news came as quite a shock. The post in question issued a generic statement: the team wished him luck with all his future endeavors, and they look forward to the season finale next week in Phoenix. In the actual post on X, DGM expressed some disappointment in how things turned out.
Our time together was much too young, but we wish you the best in what’s yet to come. pic.twitter.com/LR69HWUGvs

Following this post, fans began to speculate what might have happened. Some fans reported that Ellis had been released. The team then clapped back with the following post for further clarification. According to the team, Ellis is leaving the team on his own accord, and they were blindsided by it.
To clarify, @ryanellisracing is fully aware as this was HIS decision. We were already putting 2026 plans into motion… until we weren’t. It’s still a shock to us as well. https://t.co/PbNlf3c9Ts

The post insinuates that plans for 2026 were already in motion with the intention of keeping Ryan Ellis behind the wheel of the No. 71 Chevy. Now, that will not happen. It is unclear who may fill that seat next year or what Ellis’ plans are going forward, although Young’s Motorsports has been rumored as a possibility. The Daily Downforce will update this story as we learn more heading into Championship Weekend and the offseason.
What do you think of this, Daily Downforce readers? What might have happened? Do you think Ellis has a ride lined up? If so, where? Could he be one of the drivers heading to Dodge with Kaulig next year? Or does he have another landing spot in mind? Who will fill this ride?
