Though the race was over two months ago, NASCAR fans are still wondering which track will host the 2027 NASCAR All-Star Race.
This season, Dover Motor Speedway was chosen in place of North Wilkesboro Speedway, which had hosted the event since 2023, but, with support from fans after those three All-Star Races, gained a points-paying race this season.
To achieve this, Dover lost its long-standing points race to North Wilkesboro. While Dover has solid attendance, fans generally agreed the event did not have the same all-star feel they had grown to know.
For one, the track did not have lights, meaning the race took place during the day, and even then, the All-Star Race featured a full field and a longer race, taking away from the special nature of the event.
While officials at Speedway Motorsports, which owns Dover, have said the track will be on the schedule in 2026, they have yet to clarify if that will be for the All-Star Race or a points-paying weekend.
Still, the discussions may be far from over.
During a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, co-host and NASCAR Cup Series spotter Freddie Kraft claimed he has heard the race is on the move again and named a few tracks, though he did not directly say that these tracks are under consideration.
“I heard a crazy rumor going into this weekend that maybe the All-Star was going back to Wilkesboro. I hope that’s not the case because that place was electric last night. I don’t know where it’s gonna go. . . Loudon, Nashville, maybe like something like that, but it’s going to be rotating, I think, or at least go somewhere else next year.” — Freddie Kraft
While fans may throw their hat into the ring with suggestions across the board, the fact remains that whatever track hosts the All-Star Race, it will very likely be owned by Speedway Motorsports.
Of course, each of the tracks mentioned by Kraft is an SMI track, with Nashville for one getting plenty of support from fans to be a potential host of the All-Star Race.
Still, it’s worth asking if SMI would be bold enough to move the event after just one go-around at Dover.
Well, fans already have that answer, as last week, Speedway Motorsports COO Mike Burch told Jeff Gluck of The Athletic that the plan is to rotate hosts in the coming years.
“I think you’ll see the All-Star race continue to move around and maybe even evolve into something totally new and different going forward.” — Mike Burch
While Burch did not say if Dover was going to host at least one more season, he did mention a few tracks of his own, listing New Hampshire and Las Vegas as examples, but not directly saying that they were actual candidates.
Much like Nashville Superspeedway, Las Vegas is a track that many NASCAR fans think would be a suitable host for the race. Alongside Vegas, other fans have thrown their hats into the ring to support EchoPark Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway as a future host.
