What’s Happening?

Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen will enter races on a part-time basis for JR Motorsports in 2025. These starts are another step in the team’s growing relationship with the Xfinity Series team.

  • This deal will see Chastain race in five races and van Gisbergen race in four. They will drive the No. 9 car. This confirms that JRM will field a fifth car in 2025 and that the No. 9 will take this role as the No. 88 goes full-time.
  • This schedule consists mostly of road courses, with van Gisbergen taking on four next season and Chastain tackling one. SVG had three wins on road courses in Xfinity last season, and it appears he and Connor Zilisch could be favorites to win every one of them this season.
  • JRM and Trackhouse began this relationship last season when Trackhouse developmental driver Connor Zilisch raced part-time in the No. 88. Now Zilisch is full-time in that car, and the two teams are continuing to grow their relationship.
  • Trackhouse has traditionally had no direct relationship with Xfinity Series teams, with Daniel Suarez, Chastain, and SVG making starts for teams like DGM Racing, Kaulig Racing, and SS-Greenlight Racing in the past. While SVG was full-time with Kaulig last season, Kaulig seems focused on its revamped lineup for 2025.
