Saturday, Brad Keselowski confirmed that second-year driver and Cup Series veteran Ryan Preece will return to RFK Racing for the 2027 season.
While most fans figured Preece would have a spot with the team for the long haul, there was a major question about his future given the No. 60’s charter problems.
RFK leased a charter for the team from Rick Ware Racing in 2025 and 2026, but RWR recently sold one of its two charters to Legacy Motor Club, leaving RFK’s future as a three-car team in question.
Without a charter for the No. 60, fans wondered if RFK would cut the team altogether or if it would be able to find another in time for 2027.
Even though the latter of the two options has yet to be announced, RFK has stated time and time again that Preece and the No. 60 will return with or without a charter.
Saturday, Keselowski confirmed that Preece’s 2027 option on his initial contract was picked up “a few months ago.”
Preece is currently racing in his seventh full-time Cup Series season, racing for his third Cup Series team as a full-time driver.
While he has yet to win a Cup Series points-paying race, the former Whelen Modified Tour champion did score a win in the preseason Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium in February.
Though this was not a formal extension, Keselowski said that Preece would be “part of the family for a while,” perhaps implying this could be the start of another deal after 2027.
