What’s Happening?
Long-time RFK Racing President, Steve Newmark, is stepping down from his role at RFK Racing effective immediately. Newmark has served as the team president since 2010, leading the team through some of its highest of highs and its lowest of lows. It is yet to be announced who will fill this void at RFK Racing. However, the team did take time to post a statement on their X page, wishing Newmark luck in all of his future endeavors.
- Newmark started his career as an attorney in 1998 before becoming RFK’s SVP of Business operations in April of 2010. In December of 2010, he was promoted to President of the team. He served in that role for nearly 15 years. Under his leadership, the team won three Xfinity Series titles and the 2012 Daytona 500 with Matt Kenseth.
- Newmark is leaving the team to become the new Executive Associate Athletic Director for the University of North Carolina. In 2026, he will transition to becoming the university’s Director of Athletics.
- Since joining the team in 2022 as a driver/owner, Brad Keselowski has taken it upon himself to transform RFK racing into a modern-day powerhouse akin to Team Penske. That said, there have been many changes within the management of the team. Newmark’s departure is just the latest of several. A replacement has yet to be named.
