Rapper Pitbull Officially OUT at Trackhouse Racing

What’s Happening?

Rapper Pitbull officially announced on his X Friday Morning that he is ending his partnership with Justin Mark’s Trackhouse Racing. The tone of this post was grateful yet serious; the rapper was a crucial part of promoting the team’s launch being listed as a co-owner and “Strategic Partner.”

• This move is shocking as it comes two days before the 2025 NASCAR Cup Season starts at the Daytona 500. Even more interesting, Pitbull is set to perform the pre-race show for the 500 on Sunday.
• In his Post, Pitbull said, “We have made the decision to terminate the partnership with Trackhouse Racing, effective immediately.” The tone of this announcement is odd. Aside from a “Dirty Rumor” last summer, there was no sign of discontent or issues between Pitbull and the team’s parent company, Trackhouse Entertainment Group.
• However, Trackhouse Racing and owner Justin Marks have posted thank-you messages to the rapper. They cite him as a key player in building their brand both in and out of racing. So, perhaps this was a mutual, non-controversial split.

Background

• When Trackhouse launched with driver Daniel Suarez in 2021, they did not own a Charter and were a backmarker. Since adding Pitbull to its ownership, the team has grown into a fan favorite, with Suarez and his Teammate Ross Chastain winning multiple races in recent seasons.
• This year, the team expands to three full-time cars with the addition of Supercars legend Shane van Gisbergen. This year also seems like a changing of the guard at the team, with a new sponsor, Red Bull, and a minor rebrand, perhaps supplying the Florida-based rapper a chance to step out of his role.
