Previously Abandoned NASCAR Track Sets First Race of Revival

What’s Happening?

Former NASCAR track Mansfield Speedway will host its first dirt races as part of a major revival effort by NASCAR driver Matt Tifft.

  • Tifft purchased the once-abandoned track in mid 2025, planning to bring the well-known dirt track back to life. These dreams are now a reality, as it will host dirt late model, modified, and sprint car races on May 2.
  • The track, built in Mansfield, Ohio, in the 1950s, sits at just under a half mile in length. Though it has a history as both a dirt and asphalt venue, the track’s most notable run came in the early 2000s, when it hosted annual NASCAR Craftsman Truck and ARCA Menards Series races.
  • Mansfield, after returning to dirt in the late 2010s, was abandoned in the early 2020s. Before Tifft purchased the track, its prior owners tore down portions of its walls and a major section of its grandstands.
  • Tifft has frequently shared updates on the track’s revival online. While there are no set plans to turn the track back to asphalt, in the past Tifft hinted it could be an option in the long term.
