Clean air was the deciding factor for Sunday’s race at Pocono, and Chase Briscoe earned his first-ever win for Joe Gibbs Racing, ahead of 7x Pocono winner Denny Hamlin in a dramatic fuel mileage finish. Groovy Gauge Score: 55%

• This was a tough one for Eric to score. The restarts, especially in Stage 2, were thrilling. Throughout the middle stages, the field had side-by-side battles deep into the top 15.
• He believes strategy played a significant role. Tire wear mattered more than usual at Pocono, and fuel mileage became the storyline late. The final run saw all the fast cars up front on equal tires, but dirty air made overtaking nearly impossible. Denny Hamlin’s late push toward Chase Briscoe created tension, but clean air kept Briscoe in control despite saving fuel.
• Eric appreciated the intense battles, comers and goers, and multiple race “identities,” from restarts to strategy chess. Still, the aero limitations left him doubting how much Briscoe’s win reflected actual performance.
• On the broadcast side, Amazon Prime Video earned an A- overall and an A+ for the pre-race show, with praise for the booth, pit road reporters, and camera angles, especially the Hocevar save off Turn 3.
• Final score: 55% – Great mid-race action, strategy drama, but a frustrating aero-dependent finish.
