What’s Happening?

Longtime fan favorite driver and NBC Sports reporter Parker Kligerman is retiring from full-time racing following this season. Kligerman made the tough announcement on this Thursday’s edition of “The Money Lap.”

  • Kligerman began racing in NASCAR’s National Series in 2009. Fans know him as a journeyman driver, having raced for multiple teams in multiple series since 2009. During these 15 years, Kligerman raced in only five full-time seasons and won three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.
  • Kligerman’s chances at a full-time ride looked to be over when he began working as a reporter for NBC Sports NASCAR in late 2014 and early 2015. However, Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Racing gave Parker one last shot in the Xfinity Series last season. While not having won a race, the pairing has been relatively successful.
  • Parker decided to retire from full-time competition earlier this season, saying on his podcast with Landon Cassill, “I think I’m good like I think I… I think I want to, like, finish this year out, and I want to kind of see what’s next.” Kligerman also said that he slowly realized his goal of making it to the top was not going to happen. However, he sounded content with his decision and still wants to make a run at the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship.

“I will not be returning to Big Machine Racing… Next Year. Not only that, this will be my last year as a full-time race car driver in the NASCAR Series, and just in general, being a race car driver. I’m no longer pursuing full-time rides.” — Parker Kligerman on The Money Lap
