What’s Happening?
We’re two stages down in an absolute wild one in Kansas tonight! The race started with polesitter Carson Kvapil barrel-rolling down the backstretch. Meanwhile, rookies Corey Day and Brent Crews showed flashes of speed early on. But it was veteran Brandon Jones who was able to survive the chaos to start the race and capitalize on the first two stages, sweeping them for only the second time in his career. Now that we’ve had some time to catch our breath, here’s where everything stands as we get into the last 110 laps of the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway.

Mid-Race Report
- It was a wild first stage to start the event with the polesitter, Carson Kvapil, crashing out on the second lap of the race. This put the race in the hands of rookie phenom Corey Day, who had led several laps in the last few weeks, even sweeping the stages at Rockingham. He’s still looking for that first career victory. Nevertheless, he was unable to hold the lead for long as Brandon Jones took control of the second half of the first stage. He went on to lead the final 25 laps of the stage to claim the stage win.
- Earning stage points in the opening stage of the race were: Brandon Jones (10), Corey Day (9), Justin Allgaier (8), Jesse Love (7), Anthony Alfredo (6), Taylor Gray (5), Sheldon Creed (4), Brent Crews (3), and Jeb Burton (2). William Byron finished 10th in the stage but is ineligible for points in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
- Stage 2 once again belonged to Brandon Jones, leading 36 of the 45 laps in the second stage. This marks the second time that Jones has swept the stages in his career, the first time since the year 2020.
- Earning points in the second stage were: Brandon Jones (10), Sheldon Creed (9), Justin Allgaier (8), Jesse Love (7), Sammy Smith (6), Corey Day (5), Taylor Gray (4), Harrison Burton (3), and Sam Mayer (2). William Byron once again finished 10th in the stage after getting into the wall. He is ineligible for points in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
- The first stage was absolutely insane in terms of incidents. First, Carson Kvapil got loose and into teammate William Byron. As he spun, air lifted his car off the ground, and he barrel rolled down the backstretch, making contact with Parker Retzlaff. All drivers were okay, and Kvapil was checked and released from the in-field care center. Also, teammates Austin Hill and Jesse Love got together, causing Hill to spin, bringing out the third caution of the evening.
